Synopsis /

Based on Shea Serrano’s New York Times best-selling book The Rap Yearbook, the series debates, deconstructs and illuminates the most important moments and songs from the biggest years in the history of hip-hop for AMC’s Visionaries series. Produced by Jigsaw Productions in association with Two One Five Entertainment, executive producers include Alex Gibney, Stacey Offman and Richard Perello from Jigsaw, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, founding members of the Grammy Award-winning hip-hop band The Roots, Shea Serrano, and Shawn Gee.

The series is directed by One 9 and Erik Parker (Time is Illmatic, L.A. Burning) who are also co-showrunning with Angie Day.

The series premiered on October 13th on AMC and is now streaming on AMC.
